I reside in Battle Ground, WA and I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English, with Honors from Rutgers University. After graduation, I turned my interest toward mathematics, and I worked as an assistant tutor at Indian River State College. I held this position in Vero Beach, Florida for five years, and I found it most rewarding to assist people who started the process feeling as though they could not "do math." Through our work together, I showed them that it was possible to have a tutor who would explain math to them on their level. I make a point of taking math problems and dividing them into smaller pieces that are easier to digest. While I was living in Florida, I also taught at an alternative school for nine years. While employed in this small setting, I was charged with teaching Language Arts, Geometry, and Algebra to middle-grade students. As a tutor, I can calmly and confidently guide students toward success in a number of subjects, including Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Vocabulary, Test Prep, Literature, Shakespeare, Poetry Writing, SAT, Essay Writing, and Creative Writing. My interests are varied, and include ballroom and Latin dancing, wildlife rehabilitation, and reading.
